When The World Treats You Way Too Fairly

She Moves In Her Own Way - The Kooks

My brother showed me this feel-good pop song. This would be a good song to sip on a strawberry smoothie while walking along the Kirkland waterfront to.

Spotlight (Twilight Mix) - Mute Math

This is a great track, I haven't listened to much Mute Math, but I've heard a few songs recently that have caught my attention. I will definitely give them more of a chance than I have in the past.

Quelqu'un m'a dit - Carla Bruni

This is the kind of acoustic track, that if I walked into a coffee shop to hear a girl playing this, I would immediately ask her to marry me. Sure, the language barrier would be hard at first, but I'd sing to her, and smile, and hold hands, and joke without words, and eventually I'd learn some French. Enough to tell her I loved her in bouqets of words, even if I didn't know enough to say anything else. We'd move to France and open up a small bakery where we used an unhealthy amount of sugar. She would play music in the evenings, and I'd lean back on the counter and smile as the light crowd sat back bewildered. I wouldn't have many friends because my French wasn't very good, even after all these years, but she'd stare back at me under her scarlet frilled parasol, and I would never regret a thing.
Uh, so basically, it's a good track.

Relator - Scarlett Johansson & Pete Yorn

Scarlett Johansson can sing? She has a sultry lounge voice, and alongside Pete Yorn, who is a personal favorite of mine, makes a winning combination. This is another great track.

All I Wanted - Paramore

This is the first band I have posted a second track by, but they're incredible, and I honestly cannot stop listening to this song. I imagine I've played it 40 times in the last two days alone.

Sorry for the delayed updates. I have been busy this month but I want to get back into the habit.

This video cracks me up.

Let You Feel The Raindrops Falling Down

Full Moon - The Black Ghosts

I heard this song for the first time within the last two months. This is ridiculously awesome, strings, the bass line, the haunting vocals. Total ear candy.

Loco Commotion - PlayRadioPlay!

No matter how worn out I am, this song will pick up my energy immediately. Electronic and fast paced. I don't care what your favorite song is by him, this is mine. If I'm not mistaken, this is like a 20 year old kid from Texas.

Penelope - Pinback

Indie sweethearts. I can't believe I wrote that, but they are. The bass line in this song is ridiculously awesome as well.

Grace - Kate Havnevik

I found this track when trying to find music similar to Imogen Heap. There really isn't anything on that same wavelength that I've found, but, I see the similarities that Pandora was going for with this song. Another female singer, this is a pretty good track. Definitely not the same caliber of Imogen Heap.

Going To A Town - Rufus Wainwright

Piano song, I didn't like this the first time I heard it, but it's really grown on me.

I am not feeling that talkative today, but I have friend over and would rather talk with them right now than write about music. Sorry.

This is a video that a friend of mine and his friends put together. Please don't watch this if you're offended by jokes about people with no arms. Also, I don't know if this will let me embed from facebook. Let me know if you have trouble seeing this.

Packed Up My Clothes In A Grocery Bag

1901 - Phoenix

This is almost like a dancey version of the band Pinback. Heavy synths again, and it kind of reminds me of Ra Ra Riot, except without the strings, but a similar style of music.

The Ghost Inside Our House - Cloud Cult

Found this band through KEXP. I'm a sucker for strings, in the case, the violin. Very good stuff.

Grand Central - Edward Shearmur

Just watched the movie K-Pax again yesterday. Fantastic film, and this track will haunt you several times throughout the movie. I recommend this one to fans of Sigur Ros.

Kids - MGMT

I'm sure you've heard this. Even if you don't know that you have. This is good stuff.

Bet On It - Zac Effron video

So, if you haven't heard this song, you HAVE to watch this music video. Incredibly hilarious. This is from High School Musical 2.

These kids are quite talented.

Stood Like A Stone As You Stood Quietly

Decode - Paramore

This band is great. I just saw them on tour with No Doubt and The Sounds. Their new album is incredible and it comes out at the end of this month. Make sure you pick it up. This particular song was written for the movie Twilight, and is written from the main girl's (Bella's) perspective.

Help I'm Alive - Metric

I've heard Metric a few times, but it never really caught me. My brother showed me this song and it's been stuck in my head for awhile now. Heavy synths and a catchy melody with a basic rock configuration. Good stuff.

Ice - Lights

This song is from a Canadian girl named Lights. This music would fall under the indie-tronic genre. It's a little different, but the more I listen to it, the more I decide that I do like it.

As Tall As Cliffs - Margot And The Nuclear So And So's

This poppy folk band reminds me of Kay Kay and His Weathered Underground mixed with the the singer of Travis's voice (sometimes). I picked up this album, but I really only like a couple of the tracks.

United States Of Pop 2008 (Viva La Pop) - DJ Earworm download

This is a mashup of the top 25 songs in 2008. Viva La Vida by Coldplay is the main song that ties it all together.

This is such ridiculous dancing.

Hopefully Nobody Saw Him

9 Crimes - Damien Rice

If you don't know Damien Rice, you should. End of story.

Cover - Engine Down

This is one of my favorite bands. My favorite album of theirs is called Demure. I feel it's also a good description of the mood their music gives. It's kind of like post-grunge rock music. I wish these guys were around long enough to put out more music. I feel like fans of Circa Survive should like these guys.

Life Is Looking Up - Forgive Durden

These guys are from the UW which is where I went to college. This album was a musical written by the last remaining member of the band. There's a collection of people who collaborated on this album, including members of the bands The Dear Hunter, Portugal! The Man, mewithoutYou, The Audition, Saves The Day, The Hush Sound, Panic! At The Disco, Gatsby's American Dream and The Matches. That was not a complete list.

Man Of Conviction - The Get Up Kids

I never really got into The Get Up Kids. This song is pretty good, I listen to it every now and again and can again understand why people listen to this band. I think I'll give them another chance.

Halelujah - John Cale

This is an incredible song, with I'm sure about 40 million covers. I've heard some really bad renditions of this song, but I come back to this live recording as one of my favorites. Yes, I will grant you that Jeff Buckley and Rufus Wainwright also did decent versions. I heard an Imogen Heap cover of this song, and boy was it awful, just awful.

This is just about the weirdest thing I have ever seen. I wish I had Russian channels so I could never know what is going on.

I See The Wold In A Swirl Of Hues

The Recluse - Cursive

I had a Cursive shirt from this album, and it was my favorite shirt for several years. Clearly I go shopping a lot. The strings are really what sold me on this band. They are very different and fall along the lines of experimental sometimes. Very solid band, this particular album is my favorite.

Control Freak - Copeland

This is a boring band to see live, but their music is incredible. "They're like the largest touring band that no one goes to see," said a friend of mine about a month ago. It made me laugh, but it's probably true.

Red Hands - The Dear Hunter

I got hooked on this song for awhile. This is definitely my favorite track off their three albums so far. They have a Gatsby's-esque feel with a mix of parlor music and rock themes.

Theatre - Gatsby's American Dream

These guys defined a unique sound that many bands today have taken inspirations from. They are known for their nontraditional song compositions where choruses are considered optional. I wish this band was still putting out albums. Nic is possibly the most charismatic frontman I have ever seen live.

Lovers Who Uncover - The Little Ones

This is a catchy song I found on KEXP. I was listening to it today, and so it fits the billfold to be listed on the site. I don't know anything about this band, except that it has a mood that could almost be taken as a light-hearted happy version of the Strokes.

This video, much like the Jill & Kevin's Wedding Entrance Dance video, just makes me happy.

Sing Like You Think No One's Listening

You Won't Know - Brand New

This album by Brand New is one of my favorites. It is incredibly pensive and slow building with incredible climaxes. This song is a perfect example of their amazing lyrics and absolutely awesome guitar riffs. I saw them play their song "Limousine" live. He wrote it about a car accident that happened in his neighborhood and came out to see this mother holding her daughter's decapitated head in her arms. From that point on, hearing that song has given me chills. This album is a must listen to.

About A Girl - The Academy Is...

This is a catchy song by a Fueled By Ramen band. Very fun and the right song to uplift the somber mood of the last track.

Living Together - Circa Survive

This is another band that has more challenging melodies and incredible rock sounds. They always come to mind when I think of Brand New. Also, the singer of this band is Anthony Green who is one of my favorites. He used to sing for Saosin and several other bands, as well as his solo project.

Warm Me Up - The Audition

Catchy poppy rock song. Fun times.

Existentialism On Prom Night - Straylight Run

This emotionally driven song features the piano and is a great song for when you need to feel nostalgic.

Broadcast 2000 "get up and go" Full from Jordan Clarke on Vimeo.

Very cool music video with vibrant colors and a cool track.

In other news. I've decided to add descriptions of the songs, with whatever I feel like saying. Also, if you click on the ads, I get paid for this now. So, feel free.

Nice To Meet You, I'm Losing My Head

Uncle Mountain - The Fire Theft listen
Fight Song - The Appleseed Cast listen
Ah Ha - Under The Influence of Giants listen
Unharmed - Glos listen
Ohio - Damien Jurado fan video

Normally I would just put a listening link for that Damien Jurado song, but that video is just so bad it makes me laugh. It's kind of an odd contrast with such a good song. Just look at his face at 1:02. I laughed pretty hard.

Hula Hoop Baby is quite possibly the best video on YouTube.

Also, I found I can link up a playlist from Grooveshark to play the songs that exist on that site.

This is a music video I thought was really cool. The song is pretty catchy too, and I'm a sucker for theremins. I'm thinking I might provide a cool music video, or more likely a hilarious YouTube video I found recently.

See These Bones - Nada Surf weird video
Que N'ai-Je? - Keren Ann listen
Chimera Obscurant - The Velvet Teen listen
Hey Now - Augustana listen
Cathedrals - Jump, Little Children listen

The Nada Surf video, like most of these, is just some video I found on YouTube that's playing the song I'm talking about. I assume that YouTube will take these down eventually, but I don't really know. I guess my Nelly Fur-Tado video is still up, they just put an ad up when you watch it.

I Need The Song Started Over

Walking On Stones - The New Frontiers listen
Trains - Porcupine Tree listen
Boy With A Coin - Iron And Wine video
Mykonos - Fleet Foxes video
Plays Pretty For Baby - Zolof The Rock And Roll Destroyer video

I just hooked up this blog with my iPhone today, so there's a possibility that I'll be faithful to keeping this up. No promises.

In other news, I will be working on a stop motion animation with Mark when he comes over today. Hopefully that turns out well.

First 5 Songs

Finish Line - Fanfarlo download
